Moral Angels Weekly Flash 140308

11 more days to go! Go where? What’s up? Hope you have not forgotten about Moral Home outing on 28 March 2009 to Marina Barrage, Singapore’s latest downtown icon!

Over the past few weeks, organising committee has been discussing about the outing to ensure that it will be a fun and enjoyable activity for all. Not only us who played a part in getting things organised but also, some elderly contributed their efforts too!

Last Sat, with the help from SK, Hui Xian and Shu Hua, the banner for coming outing was completed! The elderly have demonstrated their creativity with their steady and artistic strokes added to the banner design. They paint, they draw, they cut out the pictures of stars, clouds to beautify the banner! Lovely!

I am glad to see quite a number of volunteers turned up at Moral Home last Sat! Keep it going, angels! Of course MORE people turned up, MORE elderly were engaged in MORE activities! Jin Xiong, Poh Yan and Angela were in a chess battle with 3 elderly. Who’s the chess master ultimately?

BAN BAN, BAN Luck, Gor Leng, Peng, Chi,Hu! Mahjong and ban luck went on as usual manned by Aunty Molly, her friend and Uncle Meng Huat who got the MJ and BL kakis multi-tasking and chit-chat at the same time.

Hey! I think it’s really a good idea that Sam gathered a few elderly in the Tumbling Tower game which has not been played for awhile. Perhaps we can bring out the games that have not been played for long, who knows we can attract big crowd to join in.

Rico, Christina, Mei Kuen, Chee Wah, Min Yuet, Uncle Song, Sharon, Yong, Gary, Alexandra and Alex were all involved in other activities such as running errands, fishing game, befriending. So much on games. What about music? Mini concert by Mr Mok! He’s really superb who sang for hours and yet not tired.

Our well-known good cook, Aunty Molly, once again, has prepared yummy noodles for all residents and volunteers. Thumbs UP!

Last Sat was really a good turn up right? Hehe. =)

A day of FUN @ Marina Barrage is approaching!

    Hi Angels,

I’m back again. Thank you Christina and Rico for writing the last 2 weekly flash. The writing of flash is open to all Angels <*hint*> <*hint*>.

It was a quiet afternoon as I made my way to Moral Home. I thought I was early, but Susan was already there chatting with the elderly. The nursing staffs were having an extended meeting, hence there was a slight delay in preparing the elderly for Sat activities. Nevertheless by 3pm the folks were all nicely seated in the activity area, thanks to Angeline, Yu Shan, Chee Wah, Mei Kuen, Christina, Jojo and Sharon.

One of our 2009 goals is to increase the participation rate, and last Sat was a good start. We need more Angels to be in by 230pm to bring more elderly down to the activity area. We should also work more closely with Sally, the caretaker, to identify more elderly suitable for activities.

When we involve more elderly, naturally we will need more activities and Angels right? There was no lack of either last Sat. The ever popular MJ and BJ went on as usual. The seasoned players certainly need no cajoling in getting down to action. The main activity was ball throwing game, to the relief of Angels having nightmare of fishing game. It was a refreshing change and pleasant surprise that a lot of elderly are quite apt at throwing balls.

Led by Sk and Hui Xian, the Games & Arts group were busy drawing the banner for the Marina Barrage outing. Shermin was the creative mind behind the design. Home residents were also enlisted to help with the drawing and painting. Thanks also goes to Sam, Desmond, Shu Hua, Wendy, Poh Yan, SK, Mok, Min Yuet, and Rico with helping out the activities. Song was at his usual best, running errands for the residents, undeterred by the pouring rain. Aunty Molly ruled the BJ table, and even had a ‘Ban Ban’. You could hear the groans of the players from far.

Susan is currently making new bean bags for the weekly Games. Anyone with discarded cloth or fabric can pass them to Susan for recycle. Mok has created some sample of ping ping fishes and they look fantastic. We plan to get the residents involved in making the bean bags and fishes.

After activities, we were invited to celebrate the 1st birthday of our youngest Angel, Lucas. He even has a personal blog. Thank you Stuart and Doris, we had great fun.
