大家好!最近常收到一位友人发出的华文简讯,使我大跌眼鏡,对她另眼相看。在此来点开场白,向她慰问慰问。同时也向大家拜个早年,祝贺大家:身体健康。事事顺心。

Last Sat we had a special guest. She is Felicia, a NTU Mass Comm final year student working on a project detailing the retirement life of Singaporeans. She came all the way from… well actually she stays just 3 bus stops away… along Bedok road :)

She was introduced to Aunty Vicky and they hit it off right away. We had a long chat, from 330pm to 530pm to be exact. Gosh! You must be thinking, 2 hours?! Time actually breezed through during that 2 hours as Vicky shared with us her wonderful stories. She has so much life experience and interesting tales that it felt like we were transported 40 years back in time. In the end she even missed her dinner which made us feel really bad, but she reassured us that she was sick with the daily meals anyway. Its no wonder that Song is so popular among the Ah Kong Ah Ma with his relentless drive to bring all of Singapore yummy food to Moral Home. Keep up the good work!

So with me spending the afternoon with 2 charming ladies, how do I know what’s happening at the Home in order to write this flash? Well my guess is, we started the afternoon by playing some music, wheeled out the elderly for MJ and card games. The fishing game would have started by now, followed by music shakers and singing session. Some dude will be playing chess with uncle John.

Sounds about right, doesn’t it? A little too predictable, I’d say. It seems like we have been doing the same thing for the longest time, perhaps it’s time to inject some buzz and excitement back into the weekly activities.

What’d ya think, angels? I need you to put on your thinking cap and help to contribute ideas to make the weekly activities more lively and get more elderly to join in the fun. It doesn’t need to be radical, it may be something we have done in the past but somehow got lost along the way. Angels, think about it k? Drop a comment, send an email, jot it down, and we can share them during the coming retreat.

See you all next sat!
