  • Hi Hi Angels,

Time really flies and we have now embarked in a new workplan for the year 2007. Many things have been discussed during the retreat and files have been uploaded to the blog for benefits of those who are unable to attend the retreat. I will also like to express my appreciation to those volunteers who have attended and contributed ideas for the workplan 2007… Oh no… i think it sound like an organization… okay maybe i rephrase moral angels’ volunteering plan 2007.. haha… at least it sound better. :)

To: Stuart, Doris, Sharon, Shao Guang, Rico, Uncle Song, Gary, Charlie Yong, Jin Xiong, Mei Kuen, Josephine, Alexandra, Suzanne, Edmund, Auntie Molly and her friend, Mr. Ng, Ah Xian, Ping Sing, Christina, Alex, Ken Goh, Uncle Loi, Brandon, Desmond and Poh Yan. Thank you for attending the retreat and you guys have a long day.

The retreat started with Christina doing a short review on the budget and expenditure on the events activities and outings conducted in 2006. It was followed by a short update on the volunteer strength. Till date we have about 71 volunteers and out of which 32 of them are actives. Well done… Keep it coming and we hope to see our family getting bigger and bigger and made our life easier… haha… After a short update on the volunteer strength, its video clip showing on the event activities and outings we have conducted in 2006. The video is simply magnificent. I am touched by what we have done for 2006. Thank you Stuart and Doris who spend countless late night in doing the video.

After the video, it a welcome ceremony for the new volunteers who have joined us in 2006.  They are Jin Xiong, Mei Kuen, Rusty, Ah Xian, Alexandra, Edmund, Josephine and Suzanne. Julene, Suzanne’s sister just joined us during the Christmas Day and therefore she will get hers next year… Should join us earlier…haha… No more moral cups but is a very meaningful calendar bearing their names and the month and the year that they joined as well as highlighting the dates of the events and outings that will be conducted in 2007. The calendar is very beautifully designed and can see efforts and hearts have been putting in. It is done by Sharon who again spending sleepless night in designing, printing and seeking advice on the designed of the calendar just to make it perfect. And not forgetting Mona, who helped us to laminate the calendar to make it usable and durable.

We also do a short review on what we have done and improved in 2006 and what the committee will be looking in 2007. All information has been posted on the blog to  make it viewable. And yah, not forgetting our own moral angels’ blog is out. You can see photographs, updates and files posetd during the retreat, information about the outings and various link connection to access other agencies and organizations website. This blog is designed and done by our IT software specialist, Jin Xiong. Thank you Jin Xiong. Further improvement will be made to the blog to make it more user friendly. Future weekly flashes and updates will be posted on the blog and so remember to go in often. So you guys will not receive countless of emails flooding your account. So you guys can log in to moralangels.wordpress.com to access the information. Jin Xiong and I will be assigning password to the volunteers to let you have more participation in the blog. Do give us some time as both of us are very busy. And furthermore, both of us are engaged in organizing this saturday outing and Jin Xiong is involved in upgrading our volunteer database to Microsoft Access and so we are currently over stretched.

After which, it is arrow time when we talk about the volunteer structure in 2007, roles and responsibilities of the committee as well as assigning coordinators for the upcoming events and outings in 2007. A short discussion and presentation was done on what each committee is going to do or improve in 2007. Laughter and gastric pain (because of intense laughter) was all over the presentations. All points are noted down and have already posted on the blog.

Latre, Jin Xiong took over and do a final brief on the coming Saturday outing to Vivocity, Giant Hypermarket. After which, the VL and AVLs have done a small appreciation gifts for volunteers who have selflessly contributued their time and effort for the elderly at Moral Home. It is a meaning full 2007 calendar. Sample has already posted on the blog. For those who did not attend… just too bad… oh no la… just joking.. we will pass it to you on coming Saturday. Must treasure it ho… It is very nice and efforts have been put in by Sharon. She will kill you all if she caught anyone mishandling the calendar…haha…:)

Before we end, we had a short tele match game. Stuart listed out a few sentences and the volunteers would have to search the actual phrase or sentence in the pile of newspaper… First group that won would get to eat their dinner first. Should have gotten India Newspaper, make life difficult for them. Lastly, we have a sumptuous dinner.

    Appreciation Corner

Mr and Mrs Koh (Stuart and Doris): Thank you for letting out your house to mess around…haha…No la… Thank you for providing a comfortable environment for us to conduct the retreat. And thank you for providing the snacks and the dinner and of course rearranging the dinner for the volunteers. However, I am grateful for your contribution and commitments despite staying very far from Moral Home and furthermore just joined us recently… haha
